International Announcement of UDENTE in Italy, 13 May 2010
Professor Corrado Paganelli , Dean of Brescia Dental School Italy and Chief Dental Officer of Italy was proud to host the ‘soft launch’ of UDENTE as a celebration of completion of the IVIDENT project in March 2010. Delegates from 10 countries attended the Colloquium held at Brescia University 13-16th May.
A plenary session on Barriers to e-Learning was led by Prof Dieter Schönwetter of the University of Manitoba in Canada followed in the afternoon by a symposium on haptics with keynotes from Dr Subir Banerji, Prof Margaret Cox and Dr Jonathan San-Diego from King’s College London, Dr Bruce Elson from Birmingham City University and Prof Jerome Rotgans from Aachen University, Germany.
Round table groups considered the:
- recent international pilots of IVIDENT which will be presented as a poster and demonstration at ADEE 2010;
- important GDP supporting portal 'Dental Companion' run by Alumni, and
- educational research opportunities
The 9th Anglo-Italian Colloquium and third International Innovations in Dental Education Meeting will be held in May 2011.

Quality advanced learning materials
Having to cope with staff shortages in our dental school on the island of Malta, we will benefit considerably from the advantages of being connected to UDENTE. UDENTE, the new virtual dental school will enable us to keep abreast of the latest developments in dental education as well as providing our students with the most advanced learning materials. Delivering the most up to date dental education through UDENTE will also bring us closer to schools that are reputed to be the best at an international level.
